One of the things mentioned in our rules is sponsoring development of federated projects. One thing I think might be nice to try (once we have some budget) would be to announce bounties for certain pieces of work that for example help interop of projects. These could be bugs, spec issues or graphics for example.
We would need a process to 1) submit ideas and to 2) select them and to 3) keep a list of active and paid bounties. This could be lightweight, maybe even in the wiki to start with. Doesn't have to be fancy like Bountysource.
Also, the idea of not using something like Bountysource is to keep the money in the association at all times until it is paid out. This allows setting bounties for longer term items that wont be paid off immediately as long as the association ensures the total amount of bounties paid out at once wouldn't crash the budget.
