What on earth is a "Disintermedia"?
Disintermedia is an Aotearoa-based project that advocates for a society of free people, living in self-governing communities, united in voluntary networks of economic co-operation across nations, continents, and the world. Disintermedia starts with a simple algorithm;
free knowledge, free culture, free people.
Who's involved
- Chief Cook and Bottlewasher: Danyl Strype (commonly known as Strypey)
- Various helpers and supporters who prefer to remain anonymous.
- Your name here?
Who can get involved?
Anyone who identifies with Aotearoa and with the project's core principles is welcome to volunteer. So far, the project has focused mostly on ethical tech and cooperative organization, but it's open to anything that fits the vision and values.
What am I looking at and what happened to your old website?
This wiki is a replacement for the wiki hosted for the last 12 years by CoActivate.org. Sadly, CoActivate went down without warning in early 2020, leaving Disintermedia without a host. Disintermedia thanks the maintainers of CoActivate for the use of their platform and wishes them well.
Setting up this project group on the GitLab instance hosted by the Federated Networks Association (Feneas), and creating this wiki, is stage one of a process of rethinking and rebuilding what Disintermedia is, and does. If you've ever thought about helping me (Strypey) build a team around this project, now would be the ideal time.
Can I copy and paste stuff from here?
Of course you can, this is the web ;)
